After reading more from the chapter about streamlined design, I found it interesting how one design spread to many products and became a new approach to modern design and concept. I for one am glad that this design concept has been implemented and improved on for many years. It is pleasing to the eye, smooth and is functional as well when it comes to vehicles and other products that use the design for its aerodynamic function.
The good ol Smart Car, definitely not a car i would buy and drive, but it is probably the most modernized car so far. At least an attempt of one. I feel as though they attempted to make these cars as small and compact as possible, but left out the concern for a good looking design that consumers will enjoy. I rarely see people driving these cars, which i think is because of its poor design. All the aspects are there, with a smooth, small, compact, environmentally secure car. I just feel as though the design is not what people are looking for.
After researching a little while on the newest technology in vehicles, the first thing that popped in my mind was the Quadski. Gibbs Technology came out with an atv that can travel on water like a jet ski as well. It is a little larger than an average jet ski, and quad, but it can lift it's tires up and down to get into and out of water. They also created a few more vehicles tat can travel in water or land. To me, i think the military needs vehicles like this because of its flexibility. I thought it was a military prototype at first, but average people were driving.

The design that I really liked was the Norman Bel Geddes, with Dr. Otto Koller “Air Liner Number 4”. This image is really fun to look at. Even though this design was never really turned to reality, it still gives a sense of being real. This air liner is designed to be over 500 feet in wingspan, able to carry 451 passengers. Geddes even added some outrageous things such as a barbershop, beauty salon, and a nursery. I really enjoy the imagination of Geddes. The fact that he thought something like this up is very tremendous and even for its time its very cool.
For this project I chose to talk about the new Sony Vaio notebook that is only 8 inches in size. While walking through the mall i saw this notebook in a display window and at a quick glance i thought it was just an oversized wallet. After realizing in fact it was a computer I was amazed at how far technology has come and intrigued to see where its going. You can literally take this computer with you in your purse. The designers of this notebook kept in mind how much we are on the go now a days.
I am really intrigued by what is happening with design and technology these days. I particularly enjoy the flat screen televisions that many of us may have, both form and function was considered. We have more options and more space with the various styles and sizes of flat screens.
I figured since I use the computer more and more these days I thought I'd research a bit on the BiC mechanical pencil, "BiC Matics". First, I found the name of the company is actually Société Bic. I chose to research these because when I was young and poor and I used to go to the corner store and return cans for money and then try to find things to buy with the little money I had. One of those things was BiC Matics. I don't why, but I loved them. I thought they were the coolest things. At the time I think they were the classic all black with black eraser. Now they have a clear hexagonal casing and white eraser. Which I think is a wonderful change, the black always left marks on your paper. I was drawn to the packages that had the most blue and black clip part. Another company had a sort of similar pencil but it had the clicker on the side rather than the top like the Matics. I found the other difficult to use and the clicker on the end was more natural to use.
Now I know these are not the best pencils, but they are always good ones if nothing else. It's worth paying a little more for these than the standard wooden case pencils if you didn't have to get up in the front of the class and sharpen your pencil on the loud sharpener.
I like this motorcicle because it reminds me of a sort of animal sort of like its some sort of really cool bug that can withstand anything, plus it looks really cool, very heavy duty. The design is something that i really apreciate because it seems to me that i would feel invincible, and evryone likes that feeling.
For this topic I choose to take a look at the way the military has moved into the future with their new toys. I find the B-2 Bomber aka stealth bomber has come along way from the old school bomber jet. The new design is very smooth and aerodynamic. The new B-2 is smaller, faster, can travel further and some don’t need a physical pilot. Below I gave a link to the old bomber used in world war two and the new B-2 bomber the designs are so different its amazing.
I chose this shower design because I was amazed by it's boldness. I think it is a great design for a married couple with no children. I really like that it is in the middle of the room and transparent in a way of saying that the act o showering i a natural ritual performed by humans, and should be enjoyed and admired.
